Q. Doesn't martial arts teach kids to kick and punch? I don't like violence.
A. We don't like violence either. Our training is designed to prevent violence. Our martial arts program teaches self esteem, confidence and self control. All sparring is done in a supervised environment with safety gear. We instill in all of students that fighting is not acceptable unless their life is in danger. Improved self control, self esteem and self confidence will prevent altercations not cause them.
Q. My child has been to other martial arts schools that are super strict and ignore kids that cant keep up. It’s sink or swim.
A. At Western Mass Martial Arts we realize that all kids are different. Each student will progress at their own pace. We also like to give children personal attention. Our STORM team members are taught to give individual attention when needed. We only expect the child to perform up to his or her potential. They will get a fun and safe workout that will test their limits for sure, but they (and you) will see great improvements in their fitness, confidence, discipline and self esteem. We aim to never leave a student behind.
A. We start children at 4 years old and up.
A. It won't be a problem. We work with many learning disabled students, and have had great success. We use different techniques that meet a wide range of learning styles including visual, verbal, physical and logical to help students learn proper technique. Our goal is to encourage each student to work to the best of their abilities.
